The Humanitarian Film Festival began in 2018 as an online film competition. In previous years, our film competition was focused on a specific humanitarian topic based on the annual Signature Campaign of TRT World Citizen. During this year, our Awards Night was hosted in conjunction with the TRT World Citizen Awards, which honor global humanitarians for their groundbreaking work in service to society. In 2018 the Awards Night was hosted at the Raffles Hotel. 

 

The first year of our film festival was launched as part of TRT World Citizen’s “Am I Not A Child?” campaign, which sought to highlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis concerning the trafficking of young refugees in Europe. The winners of this year’s festival all addressed the plight of these children, and the tragic circumstances which led to their suffering.
